In 2007, a group of riders from British Columbia set a world record by riding across the country in support of JDRF as part of a ride called H2V (Halifax to Vancouver).
A group of 22 Mike’s Bike Shop club riders joined them from Moncton to Fredericton. (see photo on left)
In 2008, inspired from H2V, the Mike’s Bike Shop Cyclebetes 200 ride to cure Type 1 Diabetes was born… Fueled by long time club member Mike LeBlanc’s desire to help his daughter who has been living with Type 1 Diabetes since 2002 and as a way to give back to the community, the MBS Cyclebetes 200 ride has become one of the club’s most enjoyable and successful yearly events.
The goal is to use the club’s passion for cycling as way to help others in need by making a difference in the lives of the millions of people living with Type 1 Diabetes one pedal stroke at a time.
Since 2007, the Mike’s Bike Shop cycling club has raised over $180,000 to help fund Type 1 Diabetes treatments as well as a cure.
